Volunteering opportunities

The opportunities to serve at St Mary’s are many and varied. We hope that this page will help you navigate through those opportunities to find the right role – or roles – for you.“You are God’s workmanship (poem) created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God has prepared in advance for you to do” (Eph. 2:10)

The Bible tells us that we are each uniquely and carefully crafted by God for a purpose; and that he has prepared that specific purpose for us. This makes us want to ensure that we ‘fit the role to the person’ rather than ‘fill the rota’.

Here are the roles in which we  have an immediate need for help.
Working with Children and Adults who may be vulnerable
We are committed to the support, nurture, and protection of all, especially the young and vulnerable in our community.
Therefore volunteers in some roles will be required to undertake a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check before they are able to participate in this valuable work.
In particular, the Church expects anyone who becomes aware of a safeguarding risk or of actual abuse, immediately to report it to the appropriate Parish Safeguarding Representative.
The role description states if the leader is required to assess whether the specific duties of each volunteer require a check to be undertaken.
