Your Christmas reading sorted!

There’s still time to stock up on Christmas reading. Here’s my list for the year: I confess I have yet to read all of them, but I’m really looking forward to the ones I haven’t got round to yet. All of these can be bought or ordered from Origin Bookshop at Christ Church Woking as well as online.

The Air We Breathe by Glen Scrivener

This excellent book explores cultural issues we take for granted: justice, equality, human rights, etc. and explains how they are all derived from Christianity. A good companion piece for Tom Holland’s Dominion. We have often used Glen’s videos from Speaklife in our services - check him out on the podcast of the same name.

Confronting Jesus by Rebecca McLaughlin

Want to get to know Jesus? Or help someone who has questions? This book will help!

Blessed, Broken, Given by Glenn Packiam

Empowering believers to relate their own story to that of Jesus, from the acclaimed leader of the morning Bible studies at this year’s New Wine United.

Soul Fuel by Bear Grylls

Daily devotions from the celebrity adventurer – ideal to kick-start Bible reading this New Year.

The Surprising Rebirth of Belief in God by Justin Brierley

How Christianity may just have seen off New Atheism, from Woking’s foremost Christian writer and podcaster (accompanied by its own podcast). Brierley is also the host of the excellent Re-enchanting podcast.

Human: Made and remade in the image of God by Ros Clarke

Who are you really? Theologian Ros Clarke explores the nature of humanity and our relationship with God.

How to be (Un)successful: An Unlikely Guide to Human Flourishing by Pete Portal

I’m looking forward to reading this challenging little book from the 24/7 Prayer movement about going deeper in your relationship with God.

A Non-Anxious Presence by Mark Sayers

How crisis can provide opportunities for renewal and open up deeper truths about life, faith and Christian leadership.
